Scarlet Hill

Scarlet Hill Farm is a private, working horse farm with a 10’ wide public trail easement along the tree line with a 360 degree viewing area at the top of the hill. Please stay on the marked public trail sections only; do not wander into the open fields and pastures for your own safety and the safety of our horses and riders. Note: THE PUBLIC TRAILS are open from dawn to dusk with occasional closures.

A short, but steep ascent to top of hill. Look for pastoral views of adjacent farmland, and in the westerly distance, Mt Wachusett. Looking easterly there is a good view of the MIT Haystack Observatory. A short walk via Shattuck Road connects to the back side trail of Gibbet Hill.

History

Scarlet Hill Farm sits on 134 acres in Groton, MA – northwest of Boston. The grounds offer ideal conditioning for horse and rider with many hills, open fields and access to an extensive trail system. More than a mile of slip-board fencing encloses lush pastures where horses graze all day and a lucky few all night as well. We turn out primarily in small friendly groups, though the few who need it have paddocks to themselves. We have a stadium jumping field and a cross-country course with a broad variety of terrain and spectacular views of Boston to the Monadnock Mountains. The barn is new with airy, well ventilated stalls, all with windows. Grooming and care takes place not in a busy aisle, but in a well-lit grooming area.
