Johnston Conservation Area

Johnston Conservation Area is a small, mostly level parcel that connects Maple Avenue to the Ice Line trail. At certain times of the year it may be muddy at the Ice Line trail end; there is a small wood bridge at the edge of the forested section.

This parcel provides a continuous trail connection from the Ice Line Trail to the Hayes Woods parcel. While no direct connection from Hayes Woods to The Throne properties exists currently, a short walk up the Castle Dr. hill provides that connection. The Johnston Conservation Area has a trailhead on Maple Ave. The single-track trail bifurcates, and the northern branch goes up to and along the powerlines to connect with the Ice Line Trail in about 0.1 miles. The southern branch stays in the forest and goes down a small hill, crosses over a stream on a small bridge, and ends on the Ice Line Trail about 0.1 miles south of the powerlines.
