C.L. Bennett Family Conservation Area

The southern part of this parcel is an open field while the larger northern part is forested. No trails have been formally identified on this parcel but eventually they will be cleared and marked to provide access to the extensive trail network that exists on “The Throne.”

History

Donated in 2024 by long-time residents of Groton, the C.L. Bennett family, in appreciation for the Groton Trails Network and Groton’s extensive conservation lands that provide so much enjoyment to so many.  A Conservation Restriction on the property was purchased by the Town of Groton in 1989 to protect the West Groton water supply and the open field on the parcel.

Throne Hill

Throne Hill, accessible from trailheads on Castle Drive and Rockwood Lane, has over five miles of rolling forested trails, passing several vernal pools and wetlands. At certain times of the year you will want to wear waterproof footwear. In winter you will likely see the tracks of many varieties of wildlife.
