Academy Hill

Academy Hill is a wooded open space around the Academy Hill subdivision that offers peaceful wooded scenery.

The trail begins off Cherry Tree Ln. A path leads into a mixed hardwood forest with occasional glacial boulders (erratics) dotting the landscape. Also look for stone walls. In spring, woodland wildflowers like trillium and Canada mayflower brighten the forest floor. Not far from the road, there is a fork in the trail. Going right (southeast) takes you to all the other properties on “The Throne.” Nearby homes are visible in some sections but the woods provide a sense of seclusion. Going straight at the fork takes you to the Old Turnpike, a mix of private and public lands that stretches from Pepperell Rd. to Lakin St.
