Martins Pond is located smack in the middle of Groton. This trail takes you from the Scarlet Hill parking area most of the way to the the connecting Priest Family Conservation Area but you have to walk about 250 yards on Martins Pond Road to the dirt road that takes you to the Priest trail. The property consists of woodlands and wetlands along the outflow to Martin’s Pond. Although only a 3/4 mile trail, the trail offers two close up views of the pond.

Martins Pond is cradled between Chestnut Hill and Gibbet Hill. It is named after William Martin, who lived near the pond.

The property was purchased by the Webber family from the Campbell Trust as part of their acquisition of Gibbet Hill and Brooks Orchard. The Webbers donated it to the Groton Conservation Trust in 2008.
